In the last month or so, I became the proud owner of a sack filled with patterns for doll clothes. Most particular, they were patterns for the American Girl Doll and Cabbage Patch doll clothes. When I began sorting the patterns, my four year old granddaughter, Rose, sat wide eyed watching each pattern that slipped through my hand. She exclaimed how much she wanted each one, and each doll.

As I flipped through the patterns, I told her about the Cabbage Patch-like doll I had back in 1983. The entire body was made of cloth and she wore real baby clothes. I told her how my godmother had made that doll. It had blue eyes and freckles, and of course, long yellow yarn hair. Rose looked at me and said, “Are you going to make me one?”

After an online search, I indeed found the exact similar pattern for her doll. She picked out the hot pink yarn for the hair, and I have struggled to find just the right knit fabric for the body. I’m not sure how this will work out, but I’m hoping that I can at least make something that she will want to keep for a long time.

The biggest change is incorporating all three websites. That means merging items from K and R Expressions and K and R Styles Darkside to this website. I have thought about this for a week or more. It was time. If I wanted to sell my items in one physical store, I would need to do that, right? It only makes sense to go ahead and begin to broaden my reach through this one site. Then I am not trying to juggle multiple sales and blogs, and when things go awry, I am only working on 1 website, and not 3.

My goal is to get things organized as quickly as possible. There will be adult clothing and children’s clothing. I think this is fantastic because I can’t wait to include Embroidered shirts for adults! I had planned to do this for some time now, and with it all on one site, I can now do so without trying to do everything at once. In fact, look for some new embroidered adult shirts this coming week.

I decided to go ahead and put these in the store. Currently, we have two different styles: one with ruffles and one without.

The apron with ruffles comes in two different colors. One is white with a trim and ruffle made from red with white polka dot fabric. The other is white with a trim and ruffle made from pink with white polka dots. Hopefully, my fabric picker (i.e. my granddaughter) will grow to love other colors and we can expand what we offer.

The apron that has no ruffles comes with choice of trim in red, green, purple, pink, orange, blue, or burgundy.

For the embroidered “Little Chef” phrase, that will match the trim choice. I do plan to get some other examples up soon. Our aprons are $19.99. We make them here. We don’t order them, so we know the type of quality that we put into our products.

Sizes range from S (3-5 years of age), M (6-9 years of age, and L (10-12 years of age).

We have about 3 more loads to empty up the large storage building, plus taking things to the small storage building that we don’t use but occasionally. I didn’t realize how much stuff has still been sitting in storage since August until we opened the storage building and started pulling out items that have been in there for some time.

My goal is to have it ready by next week. All of it. My sewing area, my printing area, my heat press area, and my cutting area. All of it. I promise I will be adding new stuff on our YouTube channel starting this week. I’m ready to grow. That is to be the new normal.

Of course, our luck is that as soon as we move into the temporary space, it will be time to move again. My son and I have both agreed that at that time, we are going to hire movers. This is just ridiculous.

In the meantime, I am ready to rock and roll. I have so many ideas that I need to get out of my head, sewn up, and then uploaded to the site. The fabric has been bought. I’m just needing the space to assemble. I need a studio. That seems like a pipe dream. I will probably find one by the end of the year, but I’m terrified that by that time it will be too late. Maybe not. Maybe it will work out sooner and I can have my studio before summer. That’s not too much to ask, right?
