We hope that everyone is staying safe during this unprecedented time in American history. I know that I certainly have never experienced anything even remotely close to what we are all going through right now. Due to the quarantine, and so many safety precautions that we are having to make, we have switched over to making face masks for the time being. These face masks are washable and can be worn alone, or over a medical mask for more protection (especially since so many medical grade masks are hard to come by, and are not all washable). You can find these face masks in our Etsy shop.

During this quarantine, while many businesses are closed, please note that we are still open. If you are looking for the perfect baby gift (even if baby showers and birthday parties are not possible right now), remember that you can shop with us and even request gift wrapping. We will wrap your gift and ship it anywhere in the world that you want it to go. Just because we are all under a stay at home order and need to remain in quarantine in our homes, we can still use the internet to shop.

How are we being affected personally?

It’s true that the recent pandemic has placed a bit of a strain on small businesses. Our’s is no exception. We are using this time to pivot our business a little with the face masks, and create new products for our shop. Plus, we are still working to find a bigger work space for our business. Sometimes I think that we are ready to branch out, and then, I think about the long hours I’ve been putting in to keep up with the face mask demand. If we had an office space away from home, I would not be able to work as late as I have been.

Of course, the pandemic brings other challenges for me. Just as the social distancing measures were being put into place mid-March, my doctor announced that my cervical MRI showed I needed surgery. My spinal cord is being compressed and the nerves to both arms are impinged due to 2 ruptured discs. The next day, it was announced that there would be no surgeries.

The pressure on my spinal cord has caused me to lose my balance often due to numbness that goes all the way down my legs. I fall. A lot. Plus, my fine motor skills in my hands are starting to go away. Trying to pick up small objects, or even use a pair of scissors, has become difficult. It’s changed how we do many things around here. No matter what, we are still optimistic that this will pass, and things will be back to normal.
